Proteus Design Suite

 

The Proteus Design Suite is wholly unique in offering the ability to co-simulate both high and low-level micro-controller code in the context of a mixed-mode SPICE circuit simulation. With this Virtual System Modelling facility, you can transform your product design cycle, reaping huge rewards in terms of reduced time to market and lower costs of development.
If one person designs both the hardware and the software then that person benefits as the hardware design may be changed just as easily as the software design. In larger organizations where the two roles are separated, the software designers can begin work as soon as the schematic is completed; there is no need for them to wait until a physical prototype exists.

 

Proteus 8 is a must tool for the design and circuit simulation that includes:  
  • Application Framework - single integrated application with ISIS, ARES and 3D Viewer tabs appearing modules. Switch between tabs on a single monitor. or drag and drop the tabs to display in separate windows.
  • Database public rooms - unified database of all the parts and components of the current project. Enables automatic updating of data between Proteus modules (for example schematic and PCB).
  • Netlisting Live - A live netlist is now maintained and accessible throughout the system. Allows changes to the scheme through thoughtful PCB, BOM, real-time design Explorer.
  • 3D Viewer - Now supports DirectX (and OpenGL) and multithreaded operating. Includes update mechanism in real time the changes made in ARES are reflected in the 3D viewer.
  • Nomenclature - Completely new BOM module with PDF, HTML and Excel output. New grid Editor property allows you to easily add data to the report.
  • VSM Studio - integrated IDE for Proteus VSM simulation and debugging. automatically configures the compilers and debug firmware target.
      

The limitations are that it does not allow you to save, print or design your own microcontroller based designs (though you can write your own software to run on the result of the design of the existing sample for evaluation) and do not include all the features offered by the professional system including netlist based PCB design with auto-placement, automatic routing and graphic simulation function.
